Christine Søholm Hansen, PhD
Bioinformatician
Christine is a data analyst and molecular detective with a focus on genetics and omics data at Abzu. She holds a PhD in Bioinformatics from the University of Copenhagen and concluded her post doctoral work at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, bridgging the gap between common and rare variation in disease.
Disa Tehler, PhD
Head of RNA Therapeutics
Disa is an RNA expert and drug designer with 15+ years’ research experience in academia and pharma. She holds an MSc in Biotechnology Engineering and a PhD in Molecular Biology. Disa prioritizes family when not training cross-fit or ballet, and her greatest pleasure is to cruise around in her vintage Volvo on a sunny day.
Elizabeth Gil-Roldan
Grants and Innovation
Elizabeth holds a BSc in Environmental Science from the University of East Anglia. At Abzu, she applies her wide variety of experience (at the Big Four, European Parliament, and SMEs) on business development and managing projects. Elizabeth adores her two kids and cat.
Jaan Kasak
Head of AI R&D
Jaan has an MSc in Theoretical Physics from the University of Copenhagen. He helps bridge Abzu’s mathematical framework with implementation in code and is invested in Abzu’s long-term goals of developing AGI. He is inspired by sci-fi and philosophy, and he runs pretty fast.
Jim Shur
Software Developer
Jim has an MSc in Computer Science from Oregon State University. He is a pro in C++ class libraries, recommender systems, and MLaaS (Machine Learning as a Service). When he’s not programming, he’s unbelievably good at frisbee, table tennis, and watching old movies. You really wouldn’t believe it.
Kasper Sommer
CFO
Kasper holds an MSc in Finance & Investment from Copenhagen Business School. For the last 12 years, he’s been laser-focused on scaling growth companies. Kasper is an avid diver and has dove professionally, although these days the closest he gets to the water is when he’s bathing his 2 year old daughter.
Kevin Broløs
Co-founder and Mad Scientist
Kevin graduated from the Technical University of Denmark. He spent 10+ years as an agile consultant, and at Abzu, he applies his skills in high-performance computing, parallel programming, and distributed systems. Kevin is a talented singer/songwriter, musician, and artist.
Maria Jacobsen
COO
Maria is an organizational whiz and semi-OCD. She spent 6 years in London working for hotels, marketing, and private equity firms, and excelled at keeping track of people and office bits and bobs. Maria loves terrible jokes, musicals, sneakers, and craft beer. She only runs when chased.
Martin Kerr, PhD
Business Development + Pharma Partnerships
Martin has a PhD in Molecular Genetics from University of Glasgow and had a long career in research (4+ years at the LMB in Cambridge and 10 years at Oxford University) before moving from the bench to business development. Martin still lives in Oxford with his wife and three kids and likes nothing more than a sunny day in the garden.
Matteo Bulleri
Product Analyst
Originally from sunny Italy, Matteo received his MSc in Entrepreneurship and Data Analysis in cold Finland, and now he lives in rainy Copenhagen . Matteo loves training in the gym and learning new stuff. He used to hate the rain, but has come to lov—well, it’s manageable.
Meera Machado, PhD
Data Person + Physicist
Meera holds a PhD in Physics from the University of Copenhagen in High Energy Physics, specializing in Heavy Ions. At Abzu, Meera explores how machine learning is applied in physics and science. She reads web comics, devours podcasts, pole dances, and is a secretly competitive cyclist.
Tom Jelen
Co-founder and Software Engineer
Tom is an experienced engineer in architecture and system design. He has 14+ years’ experience in software development, mostly with distributed systems, and quietly applies that knowledge at Abzu. Tom is addicted to bicycling. His new bicycle is named Rosa, and his old bicycle is named Mia.
Victor Galindo
Co-founder and CEO
Victor is an Industrial Engineer by education, working in chemical and materials research. He has 10+ years’ experience developing software, concentrating on translation, fintech, and marketing recommendations. Victor loves to go jogging with the company of his loving dogs.
